    Colonel Al Carter
    Chief of Staff
    Florida Department of Veterans Affairs

    Please join us to learn more about Florida's Department of Veteran's Affairs' mission and how it ensures that all of Florida's Veterans and their eligible family members received benefits and the services that they have earned.  Also, Col. Carter will speak on the initiatives and proposals presented to the Governor and Cabinet to improve benefits, services, resources and veteran friendly facilities that aid in the care of our service members.  

    Colonel Al Carter provides operational and administrative oversight of the department's functional entities and activities involving nearly 1,260 employees with an annual budget of more than $112 million; impacting more than 1.5 million veterans and their families. He was appointed as Agency Chief of Staff in 2011 following his retirement after 28 years of military service; transitioning as the Agency's Deputy Executive Director in 2012 and again resuming the Chief of Staff role in 2019.
